Craft Room Chaos & Cat Supervisors
If you’ve ever tried working from home with cats, then you already know one thing:
Nothing actually belongs to you anymore.
Not your chair.
Not your fabric.
Not your keyboard.
And definitely not your personal space.
One of the funniest parts of running Treasures Recreated from home has honestly been having my cats as full-time “employees.” Depending on the day, they’re either supervisors, quality control, emotional support, or complete chaos.
The second I pull out fabric or start laying out projects, suddenly everyone needs to be involved.
Flannels become nap spots. Fabric piles become playgrounds. And if I’m trying to pin or sew something? That’s apparently the exact moment somebody gets “the chomps” and decides it’s time to sprint through the craft room at full speed.
And honestly… I wouldn’t have it any other way.
There’s something really comforting about creating in a home filled with personality, noise, creativity, and little interruptions. Even when they’re stealing my chair or laying directly on top of the project I was just working on, they somehow make the whole process more fun.
Sometimes they supervise from a distance like tiny managers judging my every decision. Other times they fully insert themselves into the creative process whether I asked for help or not.
I’ve learned that if a project sits unattended for more than 30 seconds, it officially becomes cat property.
But those little moments have honestly become part of the experience of building this business. A lot of Treasures Recreated is rooted in creating things that feel personal, cozy, imperfect, and real — and my cats are very much part of that environment.
So if you’ve ever seen cat hair on my sweatshirt while I’m posting behind-the-scenes content… just know the supervisors are hard at work too.
And yes, they absolutely think they deserve partial credit for every finished piece.
