Need Fabric? Three Words: SR Harris Fabrics

Need Fabric? Three Words: SR Harris Fabrics

There’s just something magical about walking into a fabric store with an idea in your head and leaving with a pile of possibilities.

This week I made a trip out to SR Harris Fabric to hunt for materials for a new project I’ve been working on, handmade purses created from upcycled men’s dress shirts. If you know me, you know I love taking overlooked materials and turning them into something completely new.

And honestly? Half the fun is the treasure hunt.

One of my favorite sections at SR Harris is the remnant section. If you’re a crafty girl on a budget like me, the $5 remnants are EVERYTHING. You can find amazing fabrics, textures, patterns, and unexpected gems without spending a fortune. I’m always looking for pieces that can add personality and detail to my creations while still keeping things affordable and sustainable.

On this trip, I found some incredible fabrics that are going to pair perfectly with the dress shirts I’ve been collecting. I love mixing structured menswear fabrics with fun prints and textures to create bags that feel unique, handmade, and one-of-a-kind.

I also wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes of the process because sourcing materials is such a huge part of what I do. Creating isn’t just about sewing; it’s about finding inspiration in unexpected places, seeing potential in materials others may overlook, and getting excited over a really good bargain.

So here’s a little peek into my shopping trip:
✨ the giant fabric aisles
✨ my remnant haul
✨ and the amazing prices that made me way too excited

Safe to say… I did not leave empty-handed.

Now it’s time to turn these finds into something new. Stay tuned to see the finished purses soon!
